Arkansas Center for Addictions Research, Education and Services (Arkansas CARES) helps break the cycle of maternal addiction.
Established in 1992, this 120-day treatment program is for mothers who have a dual diagnosis of a substance abuse problem and a mental health issue. The women entering Arkansas CARES can be pregnant and/or have children 12 years old or younger. Moms and children stay together during treatment, and together they receive therapy and learn how to work together as a team.
This family-centered approach for women and their children decreases maternal substance abuse while promoting healthy family through prevention, treatment education, research and advocacy. Substance abuse and mental illness are treated simultaneously, with the goal of keeping families united during and after treatment.
Arkansas CARES is licensed as:
